SECURITY NOTES FOR THE FRIDAY ROUTES:
1) MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A MINIMUM LEVEL OF SKATING AND PHYSICAL RESISTANCE BEFORE YOU GET TO COME TO THE ROUTE.
If you do not know how to brake, turn or do not have enough physical strength to maintain a minimum sustained speed for a few kilometers you should postpone your assistance to the route until you are more prepared. If you have basic experience, you can opt for the Cargol option, to get started or get more safe practice.
2) CHECK THE STATE OF YOUR SKATES BEFORE LEAVING HOME.
A brake that is too worn, a shaft that is not very tight, dirty bearings or in poor condition can be responsible for an accident during the route.
3) USE THE PROTECTIONS.
The helmet, the wrist guards, the elbow pads and the knee pads will protect you in case you fall and you will thus avoid regretting having left them at home. Remember that prevention is better than cure.
4) EAT SOMETHING BEFORE SKATING OR TAKE AN ENERGY BARRITA TO EAT DURING THE ROUTE.
If the body does not have enough nutrients in the blood after excessive physical exertion, hypoglycemia or fainting may occur.
5) CARRY WATER.
This way you can drink whenever you need it and maintain a proper level of hydration. Stops near sources will not be extended until everyone can drink water and, therefore, the route can be restarted without giving you time to drink from the fountain. Alcohol consumption not only accelerates dehydration but is also incompatible with participation in the APB routes. Skating under its effects can result in your expulsion from the group.
6) BE TIMELY.
The route has an established departure time. If you think you cannot get to the exit you can join the group at any point along the route.
7) LISTEN AND OBEY THE INDICATIONS OF THE ORGANIZERS WHO GO WITH THE YELLOW VESTS AND ORANGES. THEY CARE FOR THE SAFETY OF THE ROUTE.
The organizers guide the group during the route and are in continuous contact by radio to manage the movement of the skaters through the city and avoid any surprises. Always listen to the indications of the organizers, as they act for the safety of the group.
8) YOU MUST REMAIN WITHIN THE COMMITTEE FORMED AMONG THE ORGANIZERS WITH ORANGE VESTS THAT ARE ON THE FRONT AND BEHIND THE GROUP.
8A) The organizers with orange vests in front of the group determine the pace at which the route can be safely made. The traffic is secured just before the passage of these and go ahead of them involves exposing yourself to an accident of which the APB will not be responsible.
8B) The organizers with orange vests that are in the queue of the group reserve the right to advance those skaters who are not able to maintain the minimum speed required to follow the route. They will also advance all those skaters who, being able to skate at a higher pace, will fall behind voluntarily and produce holes in the back of the group of skaters: the organizers with yellow vests cannot cut traffic indefinitely. Any person who is advanced by the tail organizers will be considered out of the group and the APB will not be responsible for any accident that may be behind the orange organizers of the queue. These organizers will be able to help to some extent the people who have difficulties to follow the group but, if in their opinion they cannot keep up, they will be recommended to leave the route. Advanced people will be solely responsible for ensuring their own safety.
9) SKATE TO THE RIGHT WHENEVER POSSIBLE.
In this way it is easier for both vehicles and organizers with yellow vests to be able to advance in order to develop their work well, or other skaters who want to go faster than you.
10) AVOID SKATING FOR THE STEELS AND TRY TO ALWAYS GO ON THE FOOTWEAR.
In this way you will avoid accidents that could occur due to a car that leaves your garage or a clueless pedestrian.
11) LIFT THE ARMS WHEN YOU BRAKE AND VERBALLY ADVICE AT THE SIGHT OF AN OBSTACLE IN THE SOIL.
If we all collaborate in maintaining safety on the route, multiple collisions can be avoided.
12) KEEP A PRUDENTIAL DISTANCE REGARDING THE REST OF SKIDERS ON THE ROUTE.
If crowds are avoided, it is easier to protect our physical integrity and that of the skaters who are behind us. If the skater in front of us loses his balance and falls to the ground, we will be able to avoid it if there is enough distance between him and you, if not, you will probably keep him company on the ground.
13) DO NOT MANEUVER OR TEACH SKILLS THAT CAN ORIGINATE AN ACCIDENT.
To skid back, to advance someone cutting the step or to brake doing slalom without looking around without checking if someone comes, can cause an accident when colliding with another skater when crossing unexpectedly.
14) AVOID DISTRACTIONS WHEN SKATING.
Distracting yourself excessively chatting with other skaters, listening to music or contemplating the landscape can cause an accident with an unforeseen obstacle (steps, benches, litter bins, etc.) The lack of attention on the road is the main cause of road accidents.
15) IT IS COMPLETELY FORBIDDEN TO TAKE ANY VEHICLE (MOTORCYCLE, CAR OR BIKE) DURING THE ROUTE.
It is a high risk practice and legally penalized.
16) RESPECT THE REST OF SKIDERS AND USERS OF THE PUBLIC ROUTE.
Behave in the same way you would like them to behave with you. The APB routes are not only recreational, they also aim to show that we skaters are sensible and responsible athletes.
17) DO NOT TAKE SKATE TO YOUR MASCOT.
Even if your dog, cat or bird is very good and peaceful do not take him to skate on Friday's routes. They are animals and as such can have unpredictable reactions capable of generating an avoidable accident if the animal had been resting at home. Be responsible and do not introduce any unnecessary risks on Friday's route.
